Read, check and fix the business messages companies exchange: UN/EDIFACT orders, invoices and dispatch advices, and X12 transactions.
Electronic data interchange is how companies send each other orders, invoices, dispatch advices, remittances and claims without anyone typing them in: a file of short coded segments, each element in its place, defined by a standard both sides follow — UN/EDIFACT in most of the world, ANSI X12 in North America.
Such a file is hard to read by eye: NAD+BY+5412345000013::9 is a buyer and its GLN. The editors here name every segment, element and code from the standard's directory, show how the segments group into loops, check lengths, codes and the control counts in the envelope, and let a value be corrected in a form. The result can be saved as EDI again, or exported as JSON or XML for other systems.
What the EDI tools do
Every code named
Segments, data elements and code values are explained from the UN/EDIFACT directory and the X12 implementation guides.
Checked against the standard
Structure, mandatory elements, lengths, code lists and the UNT/UNZ or SE/IEA counts are validated.
Fixed in place
Correct a value in a form, recompute control numbers and counts, and save or export the interchange.
