Drop a log here, or use Open above. The file is not loaded: the viewer reads the part you look at, so a file of many gigabytes opens at once. No file at hand? Try the Sample.
Files open only on your computer and are never uploaded.
The viewer reads the file in this page, a piece at a time. Nothing is sent to a server.
  • Formats. Syslog, both the current RFC 5424 and the older RFC 3164, told apart line by line; JSON lines; web server access logs and IIS logs; application logs with a timestamp and a level (log4j, Serilog, Python, Spring Boot, nginx, Apache); and plain text. Gzip files (.gz) are unpacked first.
  • While you read, the whole file is gone through in the background. The statistics, the strip of errors and warnings beside the text and the line numbers fill in as it goes, at a hundred megabytes a second and more.
  • Jump to the next error or warning, from one host or source if you like, to entries like the one you are looking at, to a time, or to a line.
Best viewed in Chrome or Edge. Chrome and Edge keep hold of the file itself: they can follow a log as it grows, and go on reading one that changed on disk after it was opened. Other browsers show the file as it was when it was opened.
